🧺 What You’ll Need:

  • Bite-sized treats your pet loves (or a toy for a healthier option)

  • Clicker (optional for clicker training)

  • Quiet space without distractions

  • A calm, patient attitude 😊

Goal: Teach your pet to remain in one position until released.

Steps:

  1. Begin with your pet sitting.

  2. Hold your palm out toward them like a “stop” sign and say "Stay" firmly but gently.

  3. Wait 1–2 seconds. If they don’t move, reward with a treat and praise.

  4. Gradually increase the distance by taking one step back. Return quickly and reward if they remain in place.

  5. Over time, increase both distance and how long they stay.

  6. Use a release word like “Okay” or “Free” to let them know they can move.

Tip: If they break the stay, calmly place them back where they were and try again.

Training Tips:

  • Short sessions (5–10 minutes max) keep it fun and prevent boredom.

  • Practice 3–5 times per day with breaks in between.

  • End every session on a win—even a small success!

  • Use clear, consistent command words.

  • Fade out treats over time, but always keep verbal praise
