Our basic training guide on getting your dog to stay on command.

π§Ί What Youβll Need:
Bite-sized treats your pet loves (or a toy for a healthier option)
Clicker (optional for clicker training)
Quiet space without distractions
A calm, patient attitude π
Goal: Teach your pet to remain in one position until released.
Steps:
Begin with your pet sitting.
Hold your palm out toward them like a βstopβ sign and say "Stay" firmly but gently.
Wait 1β2 seconds. If they donβt move, reward with a treat and praise.
Gradually increase the distance by taking one step back. Return quickly and reward if they remain in place.
Over time, increase both distance and how long they stay.
Use a release word like βOkayβ or βFreeβ to let them know they can move.
β Tip: If they break the stay, calmly place them back where they were and try again.
Training Tips:
Short sessions (5β10 minutes max) keep it fun and prevent boredom.
Practice 3β5 times per day with breaks in between.
End every session on a winβeven a small success!
Use clear, consistent command words.
Fade out treats over time, but always keep verbal praise
